My extended spring break is over. Part of that time was spent camping with my husband. More on that later.
A friend asked me to write a couple of blogs for her site from the book of Psalms. I agreed, and last night I read through the Psalms again, allowing the verses to inspire me. I ended up with thirteen chapters, or partial chapters, that I especially liked.
The thing about the scriptures is, if I reread Psalms again today, I would most likely mark thirteen different chapters! God has given us His Word to meet our present condition.
So here is my present condition. It is spring. The tender leaves lean toward the sun. Azalea bushes in shades of pink, orange and white line my yard. Red Camellias are dropping, creating a colorful blanket on the grass. Rose buds form on thin stems and daffodils nod lofty heads. I saw a robin, my favorite bird! I love spring.
I love the renewal of warmth and hope. My heart sings with joy. Psalms 98 reflects my zeal:
Sing to the Lord a new song for He has done marvelous things. (v. 1a)
Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it. Let the rivers clap their hands; let the mountains sing together for joy. Let them sing before the Lord. (v. 7-9a)
I can see nature SHOUTING to the Lord, singing His praises. I look around my yard, drive through my small town, walk along the nature trail. Man cannot duplicate what God has created.
My prayer for you this week is that the joy of spring that has infected my soul will become contagious and infect you as well.
